General Project
Description:
I plan to compose 2 pieces of music that will
eventually be
part of an original rock musical comedy about superheroes. I’m
currently
working with a lyricist and am developing the musical and script ideas.
I will
notate a vocal line, lyrics and a piano accompaniment for a rehearsal
score. I will use MIDI
to sequence the piano parts and record a vocalist, electric guitars,
bass and
utilize drum loops and/ or possibly MIDI for
the
percussion. I plan to produce a CD containing the two tracks and will
package
it as if it were a pop single.
Digital Audio
Recording, Editing, Mixing Component:
<>I
will then use Adobe Audition and my PC to record the audio components
around
the piano (see MIDI
sequencing). I will use an SM57 to record the guitars, a Sennheiser
E845S Pro
Performance Vocal Microphone for the vocals and a line-out to record
the bass
guitar. I’ll plug the instruments and microphones into my Mackie Onyx
1220
mixer which sends the audio into my E-MU 0404 PCI Digial audio
recording sound
card with quarter inch cable inputs. I will record mono tracks from my
midi
data in Digital performer and import the audio into Adobe where I will
edit it.
I will use my jump drive to move the audio files from the MIDI lab computer.
MIDI sequencing Component:
As
mentioned in the above statement, I will be sequencing the piano and
possibly
some percussion tracks in Digital performer. I will refer to this file
frequently to make necessary changes in tempo or key. This file will
most
likely serve as a reference to what the notation component of the
project will
consist of.
Computer
Assisted Notation Component:
I will notate the piano, vocal
lines and lyrics of the two
pieces of music in Finale. I will create PDF files out of the Finale
files and
take them to Kinko’s for printing and binding.
Physical
Product:
I will be submitting a labeled
audio CD of the songs, plus a
bound rehearsal score of the sheet music.
